kids and/or depression

I was reminising today, feeling a little down, anxious for warm air and sunshine, restless and feeling old. So, what do I do? I torture myself further by looking at old photos of the boys when they were little....ten minutes ago. This is one of hundreds of creations by S1. I think he is about 3 1/2 here. He was EXACTING about where each block had to go. There was a reason for each placement and if we offered to come "help" he would grit his teeth and tell us "NO! I DO IT!" He is still that way. He used to use all 250 blocks to build cities, he would work for hours and hours. We thought it was normal. Since he was our first, we had no other child to compare to. Then S2 was born. Wow. He came blasting to life at birth and hasn't slowed down since. I would bet my last dollar that he leveled this structure right after I took this picture. He recently told me that he was always so jealous of S1 and his amazing focus and ability to create immense cities out of blocks and matchbox cars. They have decided to rent an apartment together next year. God help us all.

The header is intense!

I know what you mean. I get a tug at my heart when I look at old pics of my children.

I bet they will be the best of roommates. My sister and I ( not the Frau) never got along during highschool or ever... then after college we shared a house and she was the BEST roommoate I have ever had and we have remained close ever since. I don't know what it was... maybe leaving the family dynamic and forging our own relationship instead of one detemined by birth order?
That's too deep. i think we just learned to finally appreciate esch other..
boy , that was a long comment!

Lol, love the new header pic!

Ahhh, my baby is only almost two and I get all sentimental looking at her newborn pictures. I'm serious- they bring me to tears, and I can no longer blame the post-partum hormones for it.

Sigh.

Wow... sounds like my Sister and I. Except she won't admit the jealousy! I find it comical sometimes. And, I would NEVER consider living with her again.

I will be praying for them! :)

I come by and read your post right after posting on my blog! I am in the same frame of mind right now... letting the kids grow, letting them make their own decisions (whether good or bad), and trying not to say "I told you so" when the shit hits the fan!
Thanks for the smile! I remember my kids like it was "10 minutes ago", too!

I have been reminesing with old pictures as well. My oldest graduates from high school this year and I am putting a slide show together for her. What fun, it seems to be slow process because you can't just scan and go, you have to look, remember, go show someone, talk about the picture more----now I'm only hoping to have the slide show done. :D
