Suggestions please

I just found out that all the boys will be on spring break at the same time. This hasn't happened in the last few years because of them being in different schools. I need something to look forward to, so I am looking for a vacation spot, on the ocean, that will be warm in late March, that will make everyone happy. Suggestions? I looked at cruises-it would be about 7000 bucks with airfare etc for the 5 of us...too much (unless you want to subsidize the trip;) My only criteria is sand and oceanfront...I have to hear the waves or it isn't worth going. If you have a place at the beach, how about renting it to a delightful family?????? So, throw your two cents in, cuz momma needs a plan.

We went to Puerta Vallarta in early April and the water was WARM. Everything was pretty reasonable back then and I hear they are dying for tourists now. You really do have to jump on the chance when the spring break stars happen to align. Been there. Oh wait. I'm still there. But they never line up for us.

Key West? Or one of the other Keys? We've been in Northern Florida in March/April and it's been HOT...I imagine the Keys would be great. We have friends that go to the Keys and they say it's the best vacation in the world.

For affordability and water in late March my thoughts would turn to Florida. Would the west coast be more reasonable than the east? Like Fort Myers, Naples? How about up near Vero Beach on the east coast. They've gone through such a real estate crisis there must be deals to be had! Why not rent a house?

My family travels a lot. Are you looking domestic or foreign? If you are going to Florida, Destin or St. Augustine is nice. We have rented houses in the past. We make meals ahead of time that we vacuum seal and freeze. This means no true cooking. You pop it in the microwave add easy sides and you have a "home cooked" meal.

If going foreign, we have hit up many many places in Mexico (Purto Vallarta, Cozumel, Cancun, Playa del Carmen, etc. If going to the Dominican Republic (which often has cheap all inclusive resorts,) we've been to Punta Cana, Puerto Plata, and La Romana. I suggest Punta Cana of the three. We've gone to Costa Rica, also all inclusive. I HIGHLY suggest it. You can often find inexpensive all inclusive trips there, especially last minute. Email me more about that one though (armsforanangel@yahoo.com)

My parents absolutely love San Andres Island (safe island that is beautiful off the coast of Columbia also all inclusive.)

Bummer about the airfaire. We search daily until we find a hit. Often there will be a sale on airfaire, but it's often random. We search every night when planning a vacation. Tedious, but saves tons of money. Vacationing is our family's "thing."

I could go on forever, but it's easier to email. Let me know what you want information about, and I'll happily share. :-)

I can't remember where you live, but we went to Fort Morgan, AL last summer and rented a beach house. It was reasonably priced and probably even cheaper in the off-season. It's really close to Destin, FL, but cheaper.
